Where does my money go?
As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on YOUR support so we can continue to provide continuing education to the veterinary profession.
Why should I join?
Your
resources for continuing education in veterinary science include:
Control & Therapy and Perspective Articles
These are accounts by practitioners of what they do for the
control and therapy of diseases and problems which they meet day by day in
their practices. As these articles come from all over Australasia, and indeed
from some other countries such as Papua New Guinea and South Africa, UK, Argentina
and many other countries they form a very vibrant forum for the exchange of
in-practice ideas. Perspective articles on important topics are also produced. Click
here to view the Control & Therapy series (you will need to log in first). You can also submit your own article
online.
Distance Education
There are 17 Distance Education Programs for you to choose from. Each program
is 10 months long (starting in February, with some exceptions), and consists of monthly resource
material, problems, and practical exercises that are to be completed by the participant
and returned to the Post Graduate Foundation for assessment by the tutor.
Each course includes face-to-face workshops, online discussion groups and
telephone conversations with the tutor throughout the year. They are supported
by audio/visual resources. Click
here for our current course list.
Events
The Post Graduate Foundation conducts many Events for veterinarians each year, ranging in duration from one to five days. There is a wide choice of topics and our tutors are specially selected for their knowledge and skill in clinical practice. Events include conference, symposia and workshop style events, including those with in-depth instruction and interaction between tutors and participants, and refresher course events designed for practitioners who are able to take 'time out' but wish to remain current in clinical practice. View our current Events calendar here.
NurseEd
These courses are designed for veterinary nurses who want to update their skills.
TimeOnline Courses
Online courses running for up to 6 weeks through an online format called WebCT (Web Course Tools). Complete at the convenience of your own home or practice. TimeOnline caters to those veterinarians who are not able to physically attend seminars and would prefer to study online at their leisure. TimeOnline courses generally consist of notes, quizzes, case studies and a discussion forum. Click here for the current TimeOnline schedule.
Proceedings
The
proceedings which are printed for each refresher course are made up of the
lecture notes produced by the speakers we invite from all over the world.
These invaluable books are fully indexed and are available at special discount
prices for Affiliates, Members and Governors of the Post
Graduate Foundation. Some proceedings are now available on CD-ROM. Purchase
these online through your vetbookshop.com. Download the latest book list here (PDF 151KB).
Vade Meca Series
The Vade Meca series (vade mecum means 'go with me') are a series of small
books on each species with vital control and therapy and diagnostic information
readily available to the practitioner. There are three series - Series A on
Therapy, Series B on Differential Diagnosis and Series C on uncommon species. Purchase these online through
your vetbookshop.com.
Textbooks & Manuals
These are various topics important to practice produced as they are required.

are concisely written, authoritative summaries on a subject of importance
to the veterinary profession. They contain valuable information for students
and practitioners alike. There are still six Reviews in print of the 32 so
far produced. Purchase
