David Hodgson
BVSc PhD DipACVIM FACBM FACSM
Dr David Hodgson graduated Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honors from the
University of Sydney in 1979 and was awarded a PhD in 1984. He is a Diplomate
of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the
Australasian College of Biomedical Scientists and the American College of Sports
Medicine.
He is currently Associate
Professor and Director of the Unversity of Sydney Veterinary Centre, Camden.
Prior to this he was Adjunct Associate Professor (Large Animal Medicine) at
Washington State University. He was awarded the Norden Outstanding Teacher Award
in 1987 and was four times Teacher of the Year at Washington State University.
David's PhD research was
in muscle physiology and effects of exercise and training. David has a number
of research interests related to exercise physiology, thermoregulation and wastage
in the racing industry. David is co-author and editor, with Professor Reuben
Rose, of two major books: "Manual of Equine Practice" and "The Athletic Horse:
the Principles of Equine Sports Medicine".
Dr Hodgson is a dedicated
and talented teacher and has a special interest in learning. We are extremely
fortunate to have him join the team of distance education tutors where his enthusiasm
and his breadth of knowledge will be of great benefit to the profession and
the community.
