Professor Andrew J. Mackin

Dr Andrew Mackin Andrew Mackin is currently Associate Professor, Service Chief and Dr. Hugh G. Ward Chair of Small Animal Medicine at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Andrew is a 1983 graduate of Murdoch University in Western Australia, and following graduation completed an internship, residency and Masters program in small animal medicine at the University of Melbourne, followed by an internal medicine residency and Doctor of Veterinary Science program at the Ontario Veterinary College.  Andrew became both a Fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1994. He was a Lecturer in Small Animal Medicine at the University of Edinburgh for four years before joining the faculty at Mississippi State in 1998. Andrew has a clinical and research focus on hematology, hemostasis and transfusion medicine. He has served as Chair of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Residency Training Committee, is co-editor of the BSAVA Manual of Small Animal Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, and is past President of the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine.
