Dr Trudi McAlees

Dr Trudi McAleesTrudi is currently the Head of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine at Melbourne University Veterinary Clinic and Hospital. She has extensive experience working with critically ill and emergency patients in the 24 hour ICU in the hospital.

Trudi McAlees has a BSc in Zoology and gained her BVSc from Massey (NZ) in 1992. She initially worked in New Zealand in dairy practice, then went to the UK for nearly four years, working in long-term locum positions. She then went back to small animal practice in New Zealand for two years before starting a residency in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine at Melbourne University in January 2000. She has a membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Anaesthesia & Critical Care (1999) and Emergency and Critical Care (2001).

As the current Registrar and Head of the Emergency and Critical Care section of the University of Melbourne Veterinary Clinic and Hospital, she has special interests in Analgesia, Fluid Therapy and General Trauma Medicine.
