Associate Professor Gary Wilson started his veterinary career in Darwin and it was here that he developed his interest in horse work. Following this, he moved to Perth where he was a partner in an equine practice from 1979 to 1985. From 1985 to 1995 he was the principal of a mixed practice in Gympie, Queensland.

Since 1995, Gary has operated a veterinary dental referral practice in Brisbane and is the consultant in veterinary dentistry to the University of Queensland School of Veterinary Science. He currently gives lectures and tutorials to veterinary students in equine dentistry. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland. Gary is the author of the Post Graduate Foundation textbook "Equine Dentistry" published in 2000 and is currently the chairman of the AEVA Standing Committee in Equine Dentistry.

Gary is the tutor for the Post Graduate Foundation Distance Education Program in Equine Dentistry.
